A Phoenix Man Is Dead After Shooting Wife

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a domestic violence incident between a husband and wife. The incident John Hack, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his wife in the hospital.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a residence in the area of 67th Avenue and Baseline Road around 10:20 p.m. for a report of a shooting. The caller was a minor who reported that his father shot his mother.

When officers arrived, they found a woman inside a car with multiple gunshot wounds. She told officers she was shot by her husband while inside their home. She was able to get in her car and leave but Hack shot at her car as she drove away.

Officers located the minor, unharmed, outside the home where the child was taken to safety. Officers surrounded the home and attempted to communicate with Hack for several hours.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence and members of the Special Assignments Unit entered the home. Once inside, they found Hack deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The woman remains in the hospital while receiving treatment.
