Three people are in custody after a drug bust in Yuma.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at approximately 6:31 a.m., the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force (YCNTF) – which is a multi-agency task force comprised of officers and agents from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, the Homeland Security Investigations and the Drug Enforcement Administration served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 1800 Block of Walnut Avenue in Yuma, AZ.
The search of the residence and a vehicle on the property led to the discovery of approximately 810 multi-colored counterfeit M30 pills containing Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $6,480.00, 10.3 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $206.00, $2,080.00 dollars in U.S. currency, and items of paraphernalia indicative of street sales.
The residence is located approximately 450 feet from a public school.
The suspect of the search warrant, Johnny Roebuck Jr., 63, of Yuma, Arizona, was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A second suspect contacted on the property, Ricky Smith, 39, of Yuma, Arizona, was arrested and booked for Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Transportation and Importation of Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Sales in a Drug Free School Zone.
A third suspect contacted on the property, Mercedes Ruiz, 37, of Yuma, Arizona, was arrested and booked for Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Sales in a Drug Free School Zone.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, these counterfeit pills, referred to as “skittles” or “rainbow” pills, can contain a lethal dose of pressed fentanyl for someone of any age. It is important for parents to talk with children about the facts and dangers of drugs.
