Chandler Police Arrest 16-Year-Old In Reckless Shooting Of Friend

Chandler police have arrested a 16-year-old for accidently shooting his friend.

According to the Chandler Police Department, on November 3, 2022 at 2:19, officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 700 block of E. County Down Dr.

The caller, a 16-year-old male reported that another male teenager sustained a gunshot wound after the two of them were playing with a gun. When officers arrived they found another 16-year-old male in the bedroom with a gunshot wound to the mid-torso area. He was alert and immediately transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The investigation found that the 16-year-old with the gun resides at the house, is recklessly handling the gun and discharged it at the other 16-year-old. The two teenagers were alone in the home at the time of the shooting.

On November 11, 2022 Chandler police arrested the shooter and booked him into the Maricopa County juvenile detention facility. He was booked on two counts of aggravated assault, one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm, one count of obstructing criminal investigations, and one count of reporting of false reporting to law enforcement.

The victim in this case remains in the hospital and is expected to survive.
