Goodyear Police Make Arrest In Fatal Hit-And-Run

Goodyear Police arrested 24-yesar-old Joy Joyner, of Phoenix, in connection with a fatal hit and run crash that occurred on Saturday. Joyner was taken into custody without incident.

According to the Goodyear Police Department, on January 14, at about 9:00 a.m. Goodyear Police responded to the area of Bullard Avenue and Catalina Drive, reference a vehicle-pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, the male pedestrian and his dog were both deceased and the vehicle had fled the scene. The victim was a local resident of Goodyear, identified as 71-year-old Thomas Stenoien, and the family dog, was 11-year-old “Judge.”

Multiple witnesses remained on scene to assist officers, while another alert member of the community observed a suspicious vehicle pull into a private parking lot in the area at the time of the collision and reported their observation to police. Patrol officers secured both scenes, while Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigations personnel investigated the incident and worked to identify the driver who fled the scene.

Joyner has been booked into jail on one count of vehicular manslaughter and two counts of leaving the scene of a collision.
