Questions are being raised about the resignation of Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs’ press secretary Josselyn Berry in the wake of her violent message on Twitter the same day of the tragic mass shooting in Nashville by a transman.

Josselyn Berry tweeted an image Monday that appeared to suggest violence toward people she deems to be “transphobes” mere hours after a transman killed three adults, and three young children at a Christian school in Nashville.

Berry’s tweet was removed and she switched her account to private account prior to the Governor’s office announcing that the Governor had accepted the spokesperson’s resignation.

Following the governor’s announcement about Berry, GOP consultant Constantin Querard tweeted what was on the minds of many astute Capitol insiders:

“If you work for me, and I ask you for your resignation, should the story be reported as you resigned? Or that you were fired? Feels like Gov #Hobbs wanted her gone but didn’t want to be responsible for firing her so she wouldn’t get militant trans voters mad at her.”

After a narrow election victory, Hobbs cannot afford to alienate her base and is dependent on the AZ Democratic Party for support, including party Vice Chair and member of Democratic Socialists of America, Brianna Westbrook, a transwoman.

Westbrook approved of Berry’s deadly tweet, giving it a “like.”
