Jaywalker Killed In Late Night Black Canyon Corridor Collision

Phoenix police are investigating traffic collision that left a woman dead after jaywalking on 27th Avenue.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a call of a serious vehicle collision just after 10:30 p.m. at 27th and Luke Avenues. When officers arrived, they found a woman lying on the roadway and a vehicle stopped nearby. The fire department arrived and provided medical aid to the woman who was later pronounced deceased on scene.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was evaluated and did not show any signs of impairment.

Detectives learned the woman had crossed mid-block on 27th Avenue and was stuck by the vehicle which was heading northbound.

The investigation remains active.
