Hobbs, Grijalva, Dannels Call For More “Resources” To Handle Migrant Street Releases

Arizona State Rep. Rachel Jones tweeted out a photo of street released migrants.

A day after US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) leadership notified the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and County Emergency Services that illegal migrants would be released on the streets, Governor Katie Hobbs joined Sheriff Mark Dannels in calling for more undefined “resources.”

Open border proponent, Pima County Supervisor Adelita Grijalva, joined Hobbs and Dannels in calling on the federal government for immediate action to deliver more money to Arizona border communities, although they refrained from blaming the Biden Administration for deliberately failing to secure the border and preventing the problem from continuing to happen.

On Thursday, the National Border Patrol Council tweeted:

DHS personnel in Arizona are now using the term “freedom runs” when instructing BP agents about mass releases of illegal aliens in Tucson.

There is almost no manpower left for enforcement duties as agents’ calls for assistance go unanswered and the vast majority are tied up with huge numbers of surrendering border crashers. Agents have been instructed to prioritize the processing of surrendering illegal aliens instead of patrolling the border.

And while all this sanctioned lawlessness ties up resources, the murderous cartel thugs continue to run hugely successful border operations while making billions of dollars smuggling millions of illegal aliens, tons of fentanyl and whatever else they want to send here, courtesy of Joe Biden.

The Biden Admin will not be satisfied until every last spark of BP agent morale is extinguished.

According to Dannels, the “releases are a direct result of over-capacity by CBP which is forcing these migrant releases into our communities.”

“The migrants being released are from outside Cochise County but were bussed to Cochise County, processed and then released. Cochise County is a rural county with limited resources leaving these migrants vulnerable. In short, this lack of humanitarian consideration poses risk for the migrants,” said Dannels in a press release.

“My administration has worked tirelessly to support border communities, stem the flow of drugs and human trafficking, and keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Hobbs. “But as it stands today, Arizona is being overwhelmed. I’m calling on Congress and the Biden administration to come together immediately to deliver much needed border security to the State of Arizona. Federal officials need to put politics aside and pass real solutions that will give our state the resources it needs to manage the increase in migrants at the border.”

“Border sheriffs like me are at the frontlines of this issue every day,” said Dannels. “Governor Hobbs and I share a commitment to keeping our communities safe and managing the increase in crossing the best we can, but we need help from the federal government. Congress and the Biden administration have to take action now to deliver resources to communities like mine to ensure our border is secure.”

“I appreciate the partnership and support that Governor Hobbs has delivered to help Pima County manage the flow of asylum seekers that Customs and Border Protection is delivering to us,” said Grijalva. “But our resources are at capacity, so Pima County needs immediate action from the federal government to provide us with the means required for the critical service we are providing. We have kept asylum seekers and our community healthy and safe for more than four years and now we need more resources to continue our work on this federal issue.”
