As Arizonans are struggling to make ends meet on wages that have not risen as fast as inflation, the Arizona Board of Regents voted to give the presidents of Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona pay raises and bonuses.

The presidents received the raises by a vote of the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) despite the fact that none of the three universities showed up among the top 100 institutions in U.S. News and World Report’s annual ranking of U.S. colleges.

The 3 percent across the board will bump ASU President Michael Crow’s base salary to $834,141. The increased salary was made effective immediately.

Crow was also awarded a performance bonus in the amount of $150,000, for meeting all 5 performance goals. One of those goals included developing and launching “a plan to move the three core brands of the W.P. Carey School of Business, the Fulton Schools of Engineering and the Barrett Honors College into three global brands.”

Crow made news last week when it was revealed that he “called for a globalist revolution to counter climate change.”

According to AZFree News, in the book, “Democracy in a Hotter Time: Climate Change and Democratic Transformation,” Crow declared that the principles of the Founding are no longer sufficient,” to protect the planet.

AZFREE News cited a passage in which Crow claims “the philosophical underpinnings of our democratic experiment were pragmatically balanced by the founders,” but “the pivotal formulations of the U.S. Constitution failed to protect nature.”

Northern Arizona University President José Luis Cruz Rivera’s base compensation rose to $594,104, effective immediately. He was also awarded a $135,000 bonus.

University of Arizona President Robert Robbins’ base salary increased to $816,008, effective immediately. He was awarded a $132,500 bonus.

Not to be left out of the Regents’ largesse, ABOR Executive Director John Arnold’s base salary was increased to $336,501. He was awarded a bonus of $100,000.
