A California man, Bacilio Borquez, was sentenced in Yavapai County to 46 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Sexual Assault of a fourteen year-old minor.

The trial of the 40-year-old Borquez followed a thorough investigation by the Chino Valley Police Department into the sexual assault of a fourteen year-old girl in Chino Valley, AZ. After committing the crimes, Borquez left the area and went to California.

The Yavapai County Attorney’s Office brought charges against Borquez and extradited him back to Yavapai County where they obtained a DNA sample from Borquez, which was used at the trial. The jury returned guilty verdicts on September 7, 2023.

County Attorney Dennis McGrane commended the jury for their careful attention during the trial.

“Crimes such as this have no place in Yavapai County. My office and our law enforcement partners will relentlessly pursue those who target and abuse children,” said McGrane. Our community must stand together to protect our children. I encourage anyone who believes that a child is being abused to report their suspicions.”
