Large South Phoenix House Party Leaves One Man Dead

Phoenix police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning near 10th Avenue and Sunland Avenue that left one-man dead at the hospital.

Phoenix police responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood off of 7th Avenue and Southern Avenue just before 1:15 am. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid until the fire department arrived. The man was rushed to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

As other officers were arriving in the area, they saw a vehicle driving away at high rate of speed from the scene. They were able to stop the vehicle and detained multiple people inside. Officers were later directed to a home that hosted a large house party. Officers were told the suspects involved in the shooting were at the party just prior to the shooting.

Detectives responded to investigate the shooting by collecting evidence, looking for video surveillance, and speaking to witnesses. During the investigation, investigators discovered multiple vehicles and homes were struck by gunfire.

No other injuries were reported.

Currently, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness if they wish to remain anonymous.
