Phoenix police have arrested three people in connection with the ambush style shooting of a Phoenix police officer Friday night. The arrests come after round-the-clock work by detectives and support personnel from various investigative and forensic teams.

Police arrested one adult and two juveniles, who were involved in the incident Friday night in the area of 33rd Avenue and Southern.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the investigation remains very active, and for that reason that is the only information being released at this time about the suspects and the arrests.

The officer was released from hospital Monday morning. He was in good spirits and surrounded by his wife and son and his police family, according to the Department.

On March 29, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., multiple suspects attempted an armed robbery of a vehicle in the parking located in the area of 3300 West Southern Avenue. During this attempt, a Phoenix Police Department officer, working in an off-duty capacity at a nearby business, was contacted and advised of what was happening in the parking lot. The officer approached the area to make contact with those involved. At least one of the suspects who was armed with a handgun began to fire in the direction of the officer. The officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds during this encounter. The officer did not fire his firearm during this incident. The suspects involved in this incident took off from the area before additional officers arrived on scene.

The officer has been with the department for seven years.

  1. no description of the suspects arrested. so is it safe to assume they weren’t white supremacists wearing MAGA hats?

  2. “The officer did not fire his firearm during this incident.”

I’d like to think that he exercised restraint and did not endanger the general public with a wild firefight. I just watched a video that took place in San Bernardino, a year or three ago, where a squad of cops empty their rifles and pistols into a car _with hostage in it_.
