Vehicle Fire In West Valley Canal Leads To Homicide Investigation

Phoenix police detectives are investigating a homicide after a body was found in a vehicle on fire.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, around 6:40 a.m., officers were called to the area of 3400 N 55th Avenue for reports of arson. Officers arrived and found a vehicle on fire in a canal. Once the fire was extinguished by the Phoenix Fire Department, investigators located an occupant who was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Phoenix Police Dive team responded to assist in removing the vehicle from the canal.

Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness at 480(WITNESS) or 480(TESTIGO) and provide an anonymous tip. Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest in this case.
