Phoenix Police detectives are investigating an incident where a man attacked a family after he was found inside of their home.

On April 14, 2024, around 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a home in the area of 27th Street and Edgemont Avenue regarding a residential burglary in progress. The caller described that a man was found inside the home. When officers arrived, they located the family who advised that the man left the home. Officers began a systematic search for the suspect. This search did not result in locating the man.

Detectives responded to assume the investigation and learned that the suspect broke into the house and contacted the juvenile male victim in his room. The actions by the suspect inside of this room established probable cause to arrest him for sexually motivated crimes. While this was happening, the child’s mother entered the room and confronted the suspect. The suspect immediately attacked the mother as she was screaming. The suspect attacked the child’s father as he entered the room. A physical fight occurred between the suspect and the father until the two exited the house to the backyard. There the altercation ended, after which the suspect jumped a wall and ran away.

Detectives immediately began working on identifying the suspect involved. Within hours the suspect was identified as 25-year-old Abdullahi Aroni. On April 15, 2024 Aroni was located and arrested. A search warrant was served on his residence, during which evidence linking him to this incident was found.

Aroni was interviewed and subsequently booked on multiple charges to include sexual conduct with a minor, burglary and multiple counts of assault.
