Today, with most eyes focused on House bill HB2677, the controversial abortion bill, action on another very important bill, HCR2060, dealing with immigration, may have slipped under most observer’s radar.

House bill HCR2060, a ballot referral bill, has been dormant for over two months, ever since it was transmitted to the Senate on February 23, after clearing the House 31-28, along party lines. Initially, this bill dealt with E-Verify and other immigration-related issues, but not with immigration directly.

All that is about to change because today HCR2060 got its first reading in the Senate, and the plan appears to be that a strike-everything amendment will be applied. That amendment will be fashioned after Texas’ SB4.

That Texas law still has an uncertain future because it has been the target of numerous challenges that are still pending. However, the supporters of this move are counting on the issue being resolved by the time HCR2060 reaches Arizona voters in November, in the form of a ballot measure.

Supporters of HCR2060 see the need for action because of two factors.

First, both Biden and Hobbs have purposely and negligently failed to protect the lives and property of U. S. citizens by allowing, and perhaps even encouraging, what amounts to a foreign invasion of Arizona. The latest manifestation of this misbehavior was Hobbs’ vetoing of Senate bill SB1231.

Second, the problem has gotten worse because at least some of those who would have entered the U. S. illegally in Texas have diverted to Arizona. Even though SB4 is not being enforced, its mere presence has apparently caused the shift.

This process is going to be slow, because the legislature is meeting only once a week. However, it is very likely that HCR2060 will be approved by the legislature by the end of May.

  1. I only wish the typical American voter had the brain power to understand the hypocrisy of Biden, and Democrats in general, wailing on and on about ‘saving our democracy’ only to appeal to the courts or the administrative state when the voters don’t vote ‘the way they’re supposed to’.

  2. you think the hobbit will sign if passed? NO WAY, she is a died in the wool deminazi and has her sights set on being the MOST WORTHLESS governor in Az history. That appears to be why everything gets vetoed, her try to be HISTORIC.

No real support by the legislature to over turn her vetos so they are just as worthless as she is.
