Phoenix Police detectives responded to a fatal traffic collision near downtown Phoenix on Friday night that left a 60-year-old man deceased.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, at about 8:20 p.m. on Friday, officers were called to a collision that involved 60-year-old Edwin Rodriguez who was riding a motorized scooter in the area of 12th Avenue and Washington Street. Officers and fire personnel responded to the area and found Rodriguez suffering serious injuries. Emergency medical treatment was provided, and Rodriguez was taken to the hospital where he had succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives learned that the victim was crossing Washington Street on a motorized scooter when a vehicle driving west struck him. The driver, an adult female stayed on scene and spoke with detectives.
