On Tuesday morning, a man and woman in a Prescott residence were found dead after being shot.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, in the early hours of Tuesday, deputies were called to a residence in the Wildwood Estates area of Prescott belonging to a couple that had a history of estrangement and were the subjects of multiple ongoing domestic violence investigations.

A preliminary investigation found that a YCSO Reserve Deputy who lives nearby attempted to intervene in the couple’s dispute and discharged his weapon at the husband who had just killed his wife. The deputy is believed to have shot the man in an effort to stop further threats from the man.

“This incident is a stark reminder of the dedication from our men and women in uniform on and off duty. I would like to thank all of our law-enforcement for putting themselves in harm’s way to protect this community we all love,” said Sheriff David Rhodes.
