Preparations are underway for Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers’ eleventh annual Stand Up For Veterans event and he is inviting employers to register for the event.
The Stand Up For Veterans event will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, with opening ceremonies beginning at 7:45 a.m., with dozens of volunteers working to help veterans until 1:00 p.m. The event will be held at the historic Thunderbird campus of Arizona Christian University located at 1 W. Firestorm Way, Glendale, AZ 85306.
The event provides ample opportunities for veterans to access services, tailored to their needs, in a central location. It has touched the lives of thousands of veterans since its inception.
“I am very proud to have founded the Stand Up for Veterans committee that begins planning months in advance of each year’s event. The group works tirelessly to help veterans and their families,” said Weiers. “There are a lot of veterans who need some kind of assistance, so we try to put as many services as we can in one place with no sales allowed and no money exchanged.”
“As I have said before, based on the over ten years I have been holding this event, I can assure employers that they will meet some of the finest employees this nation has ever known,” stated Weiers.
Weiers and numerous military-related community organizations coordinate and promote the event every year through the Mayor’s Military Mission, commonly known as “Triple M.”
Planning committee members represent city, state, and federal agencies, local businesses, and nonprofit partners that organize and execute the event which benefits veterans throughout the Valley.
