
A man, Hunter Strawbridge, has been indicted for stabbing and killing another man during a child’s birthday party in west Phoenix earlier this year.
Strawbridge, age 30, has been charged with the murder of 29-year-old Jake Carbonell. The attack occurred in January of this year at a family home where Carbonell was hosting a birthday party.
According to police, during the party Carbonell was alerted that Strawbridge had threatened a female relative with a knife. Strawbridge continued his threatening behavior and was asked to leave the party. Once outside the house, a fight ensued, and Strawbridge stabbed Carbonell in the neck. Two people who attempted to intervene in the fight were also stabbed and sustained serious but non-fatal injuries. Carbonell was transported to a hospital, where he died.
Strawbridge has been indicted on the following charges:
Second Degree Murder, a Class One Dangerous Felony
Two counts of Aggravated Assault, a Class Three Dangerous Felony
Disorderly Conduct, a Class Six Dangerous Felony
Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class Six Felony
Strawbridge is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond. Trial is scheduled for June, but the precise date may change.
