After walking past flags strewn along the halls of Congress representing what he says are “woke ideologies that only serve to divide our nation,” Congressman Abe Hamadeh took action and introduced the Flag Standards Resolution.

Upon taking office, President Donald Trump instituted his “One Flag Policy,” which instructs the State Department to ban the Black Lives Matter, LGBT pride, or any other flags representing divisive, anti-American ideologies over any U.S. government buildings across the globe.

“As a former U.S. Army Intelligence officer, I proudly bore the American flag on my sleeve while fighting for the right of my colleagues to wave any flag espousing anti-American ideologies they so choose, however, the halls of Congress should not be littered with silly symbols of their misguided choices,” stated Hamadeh. “President Trump just cleaned up our embassies with the One Flag policy; time we do the same in the People’s House.”

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (TN-01), an original co-sponsor of the resolution, stated, “When visitors walk through the hallowed halls of Congress, they shouldn’t be forced to see flags that represent radical ideologies. This is the people’s house, and there’s only one flag that represents all the citizens of our country. I recently introduced the One Flag for All Act, and I’m happy to see Rep. Hamadeh go the extra mile with this resolution. I’m proud to support it.”

Hamadeh says his resolution “sets reasonable guardrails that protect personal freedoms” while ensuring that any flag other than American flags are prohibited from being displayed in Congressional buildings with exemptions for: Prisoner of War (POW) flags; Official Flags of the U.S. Armed Forces; Country flags for visiting diplomats; State flags for Members of Congress displaying the flag at their official office; and Tribal flags.

Original cosponsors of the Resolution include: Rep. Diana Harshbarger (TN-01), Rep. Addison McDowell (NC-06), and Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-24).
