Our 6th year, 15th week.  For an activity update on all the bills we are tracking, go to https://rb.gy/c9uff3

The 100th day of this session was Tuesday, 4/22. The adjournment target date was the 1st Saturday after the 100th day, which was Saturday, 4/26. However, the adjournment date was postponed, which has happened often in the past. We have no idea as to when they may adjourn because there is still a lot of pending business, including the state budget.

BREAKING NEWS – This week, both chambers passed, and Hobbs signed, House Bill HB2945. This bill was necessary because of Hobbs’ mismanagement of her budget, which created a shortfall of $122 Million in the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). HB2945 provides the funding necessary to bail out the DDD and contains some guardrails to help prevent this mess from occurring again. It also contains an emergency clause, so the bill went into effect as soon as it was signed by Hobbs.

In the House, HB2945 was approved by all Democrats and most Republicans. The 11 NO votes came mostly from members of the Liberty Caucus.

In the Senate, we had a similar situation, except that the only NO vote came from Sen. Hoffman.

More information about how we got in this mess, including a timeline of events, may be found HERE
