The Arizona Court of Appeals has delivered a blow to Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes in her politically motivated criminal case against electors for Donald Trump in which she alleged election interference.
The Arizona Court of Appeals has declined Mayes’ petition to remand the 2020 alternate elector case to a grand jury.
The Court’s order makes clear that the Court will not entertain Mayes’ attempt to keep this politically motivated case alive.
With two other states – including Georgia – already dropping similar prosecutions, the Arizona Republican Party is calling on Mayes to follow their lead and stop wasting time and taxpayer resources on partisan lawfare.
“Arizona families deserve an Attorney General who prosecutes criminals, not political opponents,” said AZGOP Chairwoman Gina Swoboda. “Five years later, Kris Mayes is still fixated on 2020 while violent crime, fentanyl trafficking, and border chaos threaten our communities every single day. This obsession is not justice – it’s politics.”

“The people of Arizona are tired of distractions,” Swoboda continued. “They want safer streets, secure borders, and an Attorney General focused on the real challenges facing our state. It’s time for Kris Mayes to move on and put Arizona first.”

The people received what they voted for and that is Mayes and her incompetence. If they did not vote for her why aren’t they on the streets in mass protesting her actions and demanding her resignation?
The Arizona Supreme Court has finally put an end to this ridiculous case. It never should have been filed in the first place.
This was a politically motivated case from the very beginning. Mayes used the powers of her office to protect her own 2022 280-vote plurality election. None of the accused have actually committed a crime that any other Attorney General would prosecute. She used this case to smear her Republican opponents and to bleed their campaign money to prevent them from defeating her in the 2026 election. But I believe the only person she really smeared was herself.
