Surprising most of Arizona’s political establishment, Republican Congressman David Schweikert has jumped into Arizona’ gubernatorial race, forfeiting a swing Congressional seat for what most consider an uphill climb against two established candidates.
Schweikert, who has made his reputation as a fiscal hawk over his eight terms in Congress, is joining a field that features Karrin Taylor Robson, a wealthy businesswoman who finished second in the 2022 GOP primary, and fellow Congressman Andy Biggs, whose conservative reputation was burnished by his involvement with the House Freedom Caucus while in Congress. Notably, Robson and Biggs both have the endorsement of President Donald Trump, which leaves Schweikert in the tough position of being behind on fundraising, organization building, and endorsements.
For her part, Robson welcomed Schweikert to the race with a slap at his lengthy political career. “Our campaign welcomes Congressman Schweikert to the campaign trail. He is a career politician with a well-documented history of opposing President Trump, including abandoning his district at a critical time when President Trump and House Republicans relied on his presence to secure re-election and maintain our House majority. This comes after earlier this year, when he “slept” through and didn’t vote for the President’s marquee piece of legislation, the Big Beautiful Bill,” said campaign senior advisor Jeff Glassburner.
Biggs’ campaign was equally dismissive of Schweikert’s entry into the race, posting on X.com, “No matter what the field looks like, polls have been clear,” and linking to the results of a recent The Pulse Decision Science survey, which tested likely Republican primary voters and showed Biggs more than 20 points ahead of both Robson and Schweikert.

Funny how all these comments seem to think an election has, and will, take place.
They seem to have forgotten a 1) stolen presidential election in this state, and 2) there are two unelected occupants in both the (Arizona) AG and Governor’s office(s).
Any Republican would be better than the cheatin’ cartel-owned pig currently occupying the office.
This move in light of the fact just proves that the man is insane.
I have never liked or totally trusted Schweikert. 20 years in Congress has to leave a mark on a person’s soul. Robson? Too much big money behind her.
Andy Biggs for Governor
We NEED Biggs to bring sanity back to the Governor’s office in this state.
For anyone new to AZ who doesn’t understand this let me clarify:
The Arizona Uniparty hates Trump and MAGA and run candidates like this to split the R vote hoping to sneak a RINO or Democrat in. Schweikert has been paid off to do this as the willing dupe. Why else would someone with no endorsement run against a person who does (Biggs who will win) and Robson (who pretends to have a Trump endorsement). My guess is Robson is funding this for Schweikert. Both are waaaaay behind Biggs in the polls and have zero chance
Good. Schweikert can dissappear. He was never a fighter.
