A Maricopa County woman, Laura Michelle Owens, who was indicted for allegedly lying about a pregnancy to defraud the former star of a reality television program has been indicted again.
In 2021, the victim began dating Laura Owens, but after the third date, he decided not to continue the relationship. Owens then claimed to be pregnant by him. MCAO investigators found evidence that Owens falsified documents to bolster this claim.
On Tuesday, Owens was indicted on the following felony charges:
These charges are in addition to those involving victim Clayton Echard. Trial in the Echard case is set for January 2026.
In July 2024, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office began to investigate Owens at the request of a Superior Court Judge. This came after the defendant made several inconsistent statements during a paternity hearing involving Echard, a former contestant on the television program, “The Bachelor.” Owens originally filed a lawsuit seeking child support from Echard, then dropped her claim, alleging she’d had a miscarriage.
MCAO investigators found that between May 2023 and June 2024, Owens altered an ultrasound image, fabricated a pregnancy video, and lied multiple times under oath.

Wow. Wish that office could bring charges against all the illegal voting and illegals running businesses in the county
