Phoenix Police detectives are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred on Sunday.
On December 7, 2025, at around 11:24 a.m., officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue and Yukon Drive regarding a subject with a gun. Details on the call indicated that a man was observed in the neighborhood armed with a handgun.
When officers arrived, they searched the area to locate the man described on the call. While doing so, an officer located the man, who was armed with a handgun. The officer gave commands to the man, which the man refused to comply with. The man advanced in the direction of the officer and raised his handgun. This is when the officer involved shooting occurred.
The man suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby hospital. He did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This investigation is being conducted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Major Incident Division.
