7 Aztec Players Score Double Figures as Men’s Basketball Goes Undefeated

The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (17-0) continued to tack on the victories as it hosted Community Christian College on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 7 ranked Aztecs outscored the Saints by 20 points in each half on their way to a 114-74 win in a non-conference game.

The Aztecs gradually built their lead and went up by as much as 20 points at 52-32 in the first half. They led 55-38 at halftime.

The Aztecs went on a 13-2 run in the first four minutes to go up 68-40. Pima held a 70-44 advantage and used an 18-1 run to pad their double-digit lead, putting the score at 88-45. The Aztecs had seven different scorers during the run. They led by as much as 44 points at 105-61 with 4:12 remaining.

The Aztecs finished with seven players in double figures. Sophomore Mason Hunt (Bradshaw Mountain HS) scored a game-high 21 points to go with four rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Sophomore Isaac Johnson went 7-for-8 from the field and finished with 17 points. He also posted three rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

Sophomore Brock Mendoza posted his 10th double-double of the season as he had 13 points and 13 rebounds. He was 5-for-8 shooting.

Freshman Will Feagles (Notre Dame Prep) added 13 points as he was 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Taevean Famutimi-Brown scored 13 points off the bench.

Freshman Rowan McKenzie (Boulder Creek HS) finished with 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting and freshman Gerron Graham (Premier Prep) contributed with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Aztecs shot 61.4 percent (43-for-70) from the field, 32.0 percent (8-for-25) from downtown and 71.4 percent (20-for-28) from the free throw line.
