On Tuesday, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors appointed Cody Reim to fill the Arizona House of Representatives Legislative District 3 vacancy created by Joseph Chaplik, who resigned to run for Congress.
Board members selected Reim from a list of three candidates submitted by District 3 precinct committeemen, in accordance with Arizona law. The candidates are required to live in the district and be a member of the same party as Chaplik, who is a Republican.
LD3’s Precinct Committeemen nominated three outstanding individuals so the BoS had excellent candidates to choose from. The AZGOP bench is deep! Congrats Cody!💪💪 https://t.co/2ows9KAPED

Legislative District 3 covers a large portion of northeast Maricopa County, including parts of Anthem, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, New River, Scottsdale, and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. The district spans three county supervisorial districts (2,3,4) and borders three neighboring counties: Pinal to the south, Yavapai to the west, and Gila to the east.
Reim is a small business owner and political newcomer. He lives with his family in Rio Verde Foothills where water supply issues have been front and center for several years. Reim was one of the most outspoken advocates for finding a long-term, reliable water source for the community. That fight took several years. Now, he will have the opportunity to focus on water issues at the state level, including negotiations over Colorado River water allocation. Supervisor Galvin has expressed his gratitude for Reim’s leadership on this important issue.
Reim will serve through the remainder of the term. This position is on the ballot in the November 3, 2026 General Election.
