A suspect is in custody following a road rage incident in Phoenix.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, at approximately 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, a road rage incident escalated into a shooting near Interstate 10 and 32nd Street in Phoenix. During the encounter, 18-year-old Eder Soto Torres, driving in a Dodge Charger shot at the victim driver of a Chevrolet Malibu and inadvertently struck his own vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The victim pursued Torres off of I-10 while calling 911. As Torres fled, he drove off the roadway and crashed, causing his vehicle to overturn. Shortly after, the victim’s vehicle also left the roadway and collided with the overturned vehicle.
After the crash, Torres exited his vehicle and robbed the victim. Phoenix Police Department officers arrived on the scene shortly after and took Torres into custody. A firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered in nearby landscaping. Torres and evidence were turned over to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Major Crimes Unit for further investigation.
Torres was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on multiple charges, including drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, and armed robbery. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

In Arizona, a young man may legally carry a firearm without a permit. But maybe he should be required to carry a note from his father, saying “I have talked to my son about guns, and I’m pretty sure he is not a complete idiot.”
Looks like a Tale of Two Idiots.
Bring back hard labor from sun-up to sun-down; idle hands are the devil’s playground.
An 18 year old shot at somebody he was mad at. Sadly, you can guess what kind of life he’s set up to live.
Another hothead with a lack of self-control because someone in another vehicle ‘disrespected’ you. Enjoy prison. You belong there.
