Another jaywalker is dead in Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Police Department,On April 16, 2026, at approximately 7:23 p.m., officers responded to the area of 26th Avenue and McDowell Road regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene.
Detectives believe the man was crossing McDowell Road mid‑block, outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.
