Black Canyon City – On June 23, 2026, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested the general manager of a Black Canyon City business for allegedly stealing more than $40,000 from the establishment.
According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), the investigation began in April 2026 after the business flagged significant financial discrepancies occurring between September 2025 and April 2026. A comprehensive follow-up investigation by deputies and detectives revealed deleted financial records, incomplete documentation, and missing deposits, all of which pointed directly to the general manager, 35-year-old Jennifer McPeak of Phoenix.
Detectives established that $34,497.61 in cash was unaccounted for, which included missing petty cash, tip-related funds, daily deposits, and game machine revenue. This cash shortage, combined with other unauthorized transactions, brought the total loss to more than $40,000. Furthermore, YCSO detectives uncovered evidence showing that McPeak went so far as to intentionally tamper with and reposition the business’s surveillance cameras around the same time financial records were deleted.
Following the thorough investigation, McPeak was taken into custody without incident. She was arrested for felony theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and destruction of evidence.
