A suspect has been arrested for the shooting death of a Phoenix teen that occurred this week.
The suspect, 24-year-old Alexander Martin Reyes, was arrested on May 17, and booked on one charge of murder.
Matthew Ballesteros, age 17, died after being shot near 39th Avenue and McDowell Road.
On May 13, 2023, just before midnight, officers responded to a call of a shooting at an apartment complex near 39th Avenue and McDowell Road. Matthew was found suffering gunshot wounds and transported to the hospital where he later died.
Detectives believe that the suspect, victim, and witness were having a barbecue in the common area prior to the shooting.
