A former Lewis Prison correctional officer, Ramon Godoy, has been charged with three counts involving a sexual attack on a female correctional officer.

According to the indictment, Godoy told the victim to meet him inside a gymnasium at the Lewis Prison on July 7th. The victim was held in a chokehold while Godoy allegedly sexually abused her. After the incident, the victim reported the crime to law enforcement.

“This defendant took advantage of the trust between colleagues and abused his victim at a place where others were not in sight,” said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “Being a sworn correctional officer does not give you a free pass to abuse.”

On July 17, Godoy was indicted on the following:

  • One count of Kidnapping, a Class Two Felony
  • One count of Sexual Abuse, a Class Five Felony
  • One count of Attempt to Commit Sexual Assault, a Class Three Felony
  • Godoy was held on a $75,000 secured appearance bond.
