The Catalina Foothills School District near Tucson issued a response to reports of alleged whistleblower video from parental rights advocates Save CFSD depicting a 9th grade health teacher delivering a lecture critical of both parents and religion on Thursday.

Save CFSD shared the audio Tuesday with the description, “We obtained this audio recording of a biased lecture in a 9th grade CFHS Health class on LGBTQ issues. You will hear the teacher encourage students to question what they’ve been told by their religious leaders and parents.”

In the statement obtained by State 48 News dated May 29th, the district says that school officials were made aware of the “classroom matter in question” in March.

“At that time, the teacher was directed to follow the district’s approved curriculum as written and to refrain from including personal beliefs in instructional content. The teacher has resigned his position with the Catalina Foothills High School for the 2025–2026 school year.”

The school district appeared to acknowledge that the audio is authentic, but claimed it was “selectively edited,” and went on to criticize the presentation by ‘Save CFSD’ stating, “The video in question is misleading. The audio has been selectively edited and does not accurately represent the full context of the lesson. Additionally, the “learning goals” shown in the video are not part of the approved curriculum and were not presented in the class. The image appears to be a digitally fabricated illustration and is not an authentic depiction of any CFHS classroom.”

Save CFSD responded in a statement posted as a thread on X contesting the timeline set forth by the school district and adding that they have involved state investigators.

The group wrote, “The edited clips accurately represent the lecture and the full audio has been turned over to state investigators. They failed to mention the teacher already announced his departure before this class took place. Note how the district completely dodged the content and only questioned visual effects accompanying the audio.”
