Man Admits to Killing Phoenix Woman

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a woman found shot and unresponsive, who later died.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on October 26, 2025, at around 4:41 p.m., officers responded to the area of 43rd Avenue and Virginia Avenue regarding a shooting. Once officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult female, later identified as 63-year-old Michelle Marie Semenjuk, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported Michelle to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
During the initial investigation, officers obtained information from a witness who saw an adult male, later identified as 58-year-old Salvador Najera Jr., walking away from Michelle’s apartment immediately after the shooting. Additional information was gathered that Salvador had called family and stated he had shot someone; he then fled the scene in his vehicle.
Based on the information collected by officers and detectives, probable cause was established for Salvador’s arrest.
Salvador was transported to the Phoenix Police Headquarters, where detectives interviewed him. During the interview, he admitted to shooting Michelle and being a prohibited possessor. Salvador has been booked on murder and misconduct involving weapons.
