Phoenix Police Investigating Dead Body on Fire

Phoenix Police are investigating a death after a body was found on fire.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, just after midnight on June 26th, 2026, Phoenix Police officers responded to a report of an unknown trouble just south of 4400 East Washington Street.  The initial information was that a body was on fire.  Officers and fire personnel responded and the fire was extinguished. The adult male victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives say it remains undetermined what the specific cause of death was, and whether the victim was alive or already deceased when he was lit on fire.  The Office of the Medical Examiner took custody of the victim’s remains, and the case is pending a postmortem examination.
