PHOENIX – The Protect Girls Sports in Arizona / YES-on-318 campaign has filed a campaign finance complaint against its “copy-cat opponents” for what they say is a “deceitful website pretending to be something it’s not. The YES-on-318 campaign believes the website violates campaign finance disclosure requirements and may violate consumer protections and copyright laws.
“This is emblematic of the issue – pretending to be something you’re not. The No on Prop 318 effort violates Arizona campaign finance law with no disclosure of a committee or contact,” said Campaign Chairman and Attorney Tim LaSota. “Even the URL ownership for their ill-named www.ProtectGirlsSportsAZ.vote is masked. These deceptive practices are ethically wrong and likely illegal. We are filing a campaign finance complaint with the Secretary of State and asking the Attorney General to investigate this as a consumer protections violation.”
Arizona State Representative Dr. Selina Bliss wrote on X.com, “Glad to see my bill to protect girls’ sports and female spaces has been given a title and is now known as Prop 318. But now seeing a disgraceful trick by the opponents to copy our official website – Protect Girls’ Sports in Arizona. Bliss sponsored House Concurrent Resolution 2003, titled the Protect Girls’ Sports in Arizona Act. HCR 2003 created the ballot referral heading to voters in the November 3, 2026 general election.
The Protect Girls Sports in Arizona / YES-on-318 campaign also announced its honorary co-chairs Christine Jones and former Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit.
“Today we celebrate sports for all, as we begin the campaign to protect both girls’ sports and the right for everyone to participate. Prop 318, the Protect Girls Sports in Arizona Act, will designate sports Male – Female – Co-Ed, ensuring fairness for females, and the opportunity for everyone to play. Common sense, voter-enacted, it’s long past time we made girls’ sports in Arizona FEMALE again by voting YES on Prop 318,” said Protect Girls Sports in Arizona / YES-on-318 Honorary Co-Chair Christine Jones.
“As the father of three daughters who all played competitive sports, I believe every girl deserves the opportunity to compete on a fair and level playing field. Girls’ sports build confidence, discipline, and character, and the protections established through Title IX should be preserved for future generations. I believe we can treat everyone with dignity and respect while also recognizing that women’s sports should be reserved for biological females to ensure fairness and equal opportunity,” added former Arizona State Treasurer and college athlete, Jeff DeWit.
