Cottonwood – A 34-year-old Cottonwood man, Jayme Lars Johnson, is in custody after he was found by Cottonwood Police in the middle of a busy intersection sunbathing in the nude.

According to Cottonwood Police, at about 12:30 p.m. officers were called to the area of State Route 260 and Cove Parkway for a report of a naked man wearing a backpack and throwing flowers at vehicles. By the time the officer arrived on scene Cottonwood Public Safety Communications Center had received several 9-1-1 calls about Johnson.

When the officer arrived on scene, he found Johnson completely nude with the exception of shoes laying in the prone position in that intersection. When the officer contacted Johnson he said he was sunbathing at a beach and listening to a Katy Perry song.

Jayme Johnson was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center for 2 counts of Indecent Exposure; one a felony charge and the other a misdemeanor. The felony charge is due to the fact that Johnson caused a juvenile to see his penis along with an adult in the same vehicle.

Johnson will be screened in jail to determine if a mental health evaluation is warranted, according to Cottonwood Police.
