Ryan K. Edwards was released from the Arizona Department of Corrections on Jan. 16, after serving a 60-day sentence for endangering the manager of a Sierra Vista business back in 2020. His release marked the beginning of a five-year term of probation for an assault with serious injury in Bisbee which also occurred in 2020.

But Edwards, who is a Texas resident, was booked back into the Cochise County jail earlier this month after a petition to revoke probation was filed Feb. 7 alleging four violations, including a Feb. 1 aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license, and leaving Arizona without prior consent.

The recent assault which occurred in Texas involved his wife, who was a witness to both 2020 incidents in Arizona.

Judge Timothy Dickerson of the Cochise County Superior Court ruled Edwards held without bond after his arrest, an order the judge left intact during a revocation arraignment Monday morning. Dickerson scheduled Edwards for a March 2 review hearing with Judge Laura Cardinal who originally sentenced Edwards.

Court records show Cardinal could reinstate Edwards to probation, or she can revoke probation and send him back to state prison. The presumptive, or midrange sentence, is 3.5 years.

This is the second time Edwards has been accused of assaulting his wife in Texas. Last summer had pleaded guilty in Texas to committing felony assault against his then-pregnant wife, who reported being choked by Edwards.

Arizona Daily Independent has learned Edwards’ true name is now listed in court filings as Thomas R. Jeffries.
