TUSD’s “Ethnic Studies” classes to be held off campus

The “students” of UNIDOS want you to know that “This 24th!!! TUSD will receive $6,200 per student that shows up for attendance….. They care so much about money “LETS MAKE SURE THEY LOOSE IT!!!” However, contrary to their pathos and pledge and to drain the district of money, the 100th day has no more significance to funding of Arizona’s public schools than any other day.

The “students” announced the “launch of the Tucson community’s School of Ethnic Studies,” today. According to their released statement “Media are encouraged to meet with UNIDOS Media Representatives and students at 2:45p.m. for interviews).”

The “students” are advising their Facebook friends that “Donations can be dropped off at Derechos Humanos office 631 south 6th ave. Tucson, AZ 85701 between the hours of 11:30am-6:30pm contact Flor Burruel for more information,” according to a post on the UNIDOS Facebook page.

Derechos Humanos is controlled by radical activist Isabel Garcia. Derechos Humanos supplied the undocumented adult females who participated in the illegal TUSD “Promotoras” program that was closed down under the direction of TUSD’s Assistant Superintendent long time student advocate, Dr. Lupita Garcia. The district was fined by the Arizona Department of Education for the misappropriation of the funds.

The program arranged for Title 1 monies to be used for adult illegal immigrant women to take community organizing classes at Pima Community College. Title 1 funds are intended for literacy programs for children living in poverty.

The “students” of UNIDOS have been “mentored” by Garcia and Roberto “Dr. Cintli” Rodriguez. Rodriguez sold his book the “X in La Raza” to the district for their Mexican American Studies classes. Rodriguez is a frequent speaker at the TUSD Governing Board meetings on behalf of his book and the classes. In his book, Rodriguez lays out the case for why the southern portion of the United States belongs to the indigenous peoples of Mexico. Students are taught that they must work for the return of those lands to the “People of the Maiz.”

Other adults who have a vested political or economic interest in the classes organized the “students” to take over the TUSD Governing Board meeting last Spring. Most of the participants in the takeover did not attend district schools at the time of the takeover.

“If students want to participate in an after school program paid for entirely by private funding they are free to do so. Elected officials need to be monitoring the funding of such a program to guarantee that money allocated to TUSD and/or the University of Arizona is not being siphoned off to fund the indoctrination of these students,” stated long time educator Rich Kronberg, co-founder of TU4SD.
