St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center wins national recognition

Carondelet St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center has been recognized by the National Healing Corporation for maximizing its resources to meet the growing needs of the community.

St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center is part of a nationwide network of researchers and specialists reporting patient outcomes to National Healing Corporation, the nation’s largest provider of managed and outsourced wound healing centers. This results in one of the most comprehensive databases for wound outcomes in the U.S. and enables the company to share its knowledge with wound care experts from around the world.

“Our patients have benefited from the extensive data and information available to the Wound Healing Center physicians and nurses. New evidence-based wound care protocols and advanced wound care treatments provide a wide range of options for every patient, which result in more significant healing,” said Jennifer Biggs, RN, Sr. Director of Nursing at Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital.

“By partnering with National Healing Corporation, the physicians and nurses involved in the St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center also have access to specialists throughout the country who are experts in the many disciplines essential to the management of chronic wounds,” said Rhonda Quick, M.D., Medical Director of the Wounding Healing Center. “It is a priceless resource for the staff and especially for the patients.”

The St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“The impact of our physicians and nurses is evidenced daily by our patients walking out of this center healed,” said Dave Smith, Program Director at the St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center. We treat the chronic wound population – patients that haven’t healed through traditional treatment, some who may be avoiding an amputation because of our care.”
