A-10 hard landing due to landing gear malfunction

a-10On Monday, September 29, an A-10 based at D-M experienced a technical malfunction shortly before 11 p.m. and experienced a hard landing.

The pilot performed all checklist requirements and was able to land the aircraft safely on the approved runway. There were no injuries to the pilot or ground personnel.

Immediately following the gear-up ‘hard landing,’ base emergency response agencies arrived on scene.

A crane was used to transport the A-10 off the runway and into a hanger for repairs and a full safety investigation into the incident.

Once the aircraft and debris were removed, the runway was reopened and normal flight operations resumed by 10:50 a.m.
