Tucson Police investigate murder-suicide

On May 2, 2015, around 6:15 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to a report of a male and female arguing outside a residence in the 2700 block of North Winstel Blvd. As officers were responding, the arguing turned into a physical altercation.

Officers arrived on scene but were unable to locate the male or female. Initial attempts to contact either party at the residence were unsuccessful. In checking the area, officers located evidence suggesting someone was possibly injured inside the residence. The officers checked welfare inside and located an adult male and an adult female with obvious trauma.

Members from the Tucson Fire Department responded and 64-year-old Sandra Hatfield and 54-year-old Andrew Poe
the male and female were pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives have continued the investigation into the homicide that occurred in the 2700 block of North Winstel Blvd. and are currently working the incident as a murder-suicide.

Detectives spoke to witnesses and examined physical evidence at the scene. They have learned the male and female had a romantic relationship but did not live together. On the evening of May 2, 2015 the female went over to the male’s residence and an argument ensued outside. The female began damaging the male’s vehicle parked in the yard. The male confronted the female and the argument turned into a physical altercation. The male and female then went inside the residence where the male shot the female and then turned the gun on himself.

The female in this incident has been identified as 64-year-old Sandra Hatfield. The male has been identified as 54-year-old Andrew Poe. Next of kin have been notified.
