Chandler Police Warn Of Door To Door Charity Scammers

This weekend, the Chandler Police Department received a report of a suspicious subject across from Basha High School. After contacting the subject and several others, police say the group appears to be in town working door to door sales under the name “carepackagecampaign.org”.

They claim the money collected goes to making and sending care packages to deployed military members. A look into this group revealed many people who donate to them feel scammed or defrauded once they realize this is a “for profit” business and the percentage actually being used for the military is small, according to police.

The workers are all from other states and brought in by this company to solicit sales. They could not provide a city permit, saying they are in Chandler right now because it was profitable last year. It is reported that the employees make 10 percent of what they collect. They are transported from state to state by this company, living in hotels. None of the people contacted by officers had any identification and all of them live out of state.

Chandler Police are reminding citizens that anyone selling door to door in the City of Chandler is required to have a City license and must carry their City issued ID card. If you are suspicious of people selling door to door in your neighborhood, you are encouraged to call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
