AZ AG SOS Won’t Sue Over Election Manual

Capitol Media Services is reporting that the Arizona Attorney General’s office is refusing to protect voters’ based on his claim that the Secretary of State’s interpretation of the law regarding the state elections manual.

For months the ADI has been reporting that the SOS has abdicated her responsibility to county recorders, leaving them with little guidance and at times it has resulted in chaos.

According to Capitol Media Services, “Michael Bailey, the chief deputy, acknowledged Tuesday that the Secretary of State adopted what appears to be a unique interpretation of the law requiring her to prepare the manual. That book, now nearly 400 pages, is a virtual bible for election workers on every facet of what the law requires and how to handle different situations.”

Attorney Tom Ryan asked the Attorney General office to investigate the Secretary of State’s office for the decision not to issue an updated procedure manual.

The Attorney General received contributions during his 2014 bid from Reagan’s head of Elections, Eric Spencer. Spencer, unresponsive, and impatient with voters who have questioned SOS decisions, has dismissed concerns by voters in several elections since Reagan took office.

According to Capitol Media Services, “Bailey made no mention of changes in election law that have been enacted since the 2014 manual was released. And he specifically decided not to answer which interpretation of the law is the best.”
