Detectives from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Animal Crimes Unit have arrested Scott Brister, age 45, a resident of Tempe, Arizona, and Rhonda Romine, 26 of Phoenix, on charges related to bestiality.
Brister had placed an ad on a bestiality website seeking the services of a dog to have sexual intercourse with his “Sex Slave,” later identified as Romine.
An Animal Crimes detective in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office opened the ad which read: “My slave and I are looking for a dog and owner for her first time. We want her mounted and she will also take care of the owner (male or female). Just shoot me a message.” Brister’s goal was to film the sexual encounter between the dog and Romine.
The detective made contact with Brister, as an interested party in his ad, and Brister asked that the conversation continue through his private email address. In the ensuing email exchanges, Brister continued to show interest in having a dog engage in sexual contact with his “Sex Slave,” but was concerned about a Sheriff Joe Arpaio operation.
During the email exchanges, Brister and Romine asked if the undercover detective was a cop, showing that both knew what they were doing was illegal. Photos of the dog that was going to have sex with Romine were also forwarded to the couple. “You think that will work for your slave?” Brister responded: “Yes it will.”
On July 22, 2016, Brister and Romine drove to the Holiday Inn in Tempe and met with the undercover detective. Sheriff’s detectives brought a seized, abused dog to the meeting which was deemed acceptable to their stated intentions. At this point, Brister and Romine were arrested.
Sheriff Arpaio commented: “Once again, this is bestiality case number eleven for my office. These investigations are becoming more difficult because of the ‘Zoosexual’ community checklist found online.” Arpaio continues, “You can be sure, we will continue to make arrests in cases just like this one regardless of their attempts to outsmart my detectives.”
Brister was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on class 3 felony in connection for arranging the sexual encounter between Romine and the dog. Romine was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on a class 6 felony on charges of conspiracy to commit bestiality. Both Romine and Brister admitted to the crime.
The dog used in the case was not harmed.
