On Tuesday the Pima County Board of Supervisors will be asked to consider renewing County Administrator Chuck Huckleberry’s contract. Huckleberry is requesting an increase of his current salary.

Kevin E. Kubitskey of the Pima County Deputy Sheriff’s Association posted to Facebook on December 30, 2016

Please remember that Mr. Huckleberry could not find the money (6 million) to pay the promised decompression to deputies that he allowed to be contractually advertised for 8 years and only reclassified it recently to something that no other law enforcement agency does. This will prevent good men and women from coming to our agency (hence the publics protection). If Chuck Huckleberry is permitted to stay, we will all see the same roads, the same taxes, and the same PEOPLE staying in positions of abused power.

Huckleberry, according to various reports, is one of the top paid county administrators in the country. In 2015, the ADI reported that “the richest county in the U.S., Loudoun County, VA., pays its county administrator a whopping $223,160 a year, while Pima County, home to the fifth poorest metropolitan area in the country, pays its county administrator Chuck Huckelberry a base salary of
$288,000. The County will contribute to $24,000 for 2017 to his deferred compensation plan, and contribute $15,000 to his supplemental retirement for 2017.

The County picks up the cost for his medical, dental, and disability coverage. According to Supervisor Ally Miller’s Facebook post, Huckelberry’s contract also includes:

● An additional 120 hours sick leave (on top of what he is already eligible for)

● An additional 120 hours Vacation pay (on top of what he is already eligible for)

● He will get paid all of his accumulated vacation etc when he leaves county at his current rate.

Miller is Huckelberry’s arch-enemy due to her successful efforts to expose his schemes and scams.

As a result of a records request filed by Miller, Huckelberry’s failed effort to unseat Miller in November’s election was exposed. His use of County resources to attack Miller is currently the subject of an investigation by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
