Yuma County Residents Warned Of Jury Duty Warrant Scam

Yuma County Court Building

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received several calls this week in reference to a scam that is occurring throughout Yuma County. Reporting parties told Deputies that they had received a telephone call from an unknown suspect who was claiming to be Chad (name reported that is being used) with the Sheriff’s Office. The suspect would inform the victims that they had outstanding warrants for failing to report for jury duty.

The suspect is instructing the victims to pay the amount of the warrant using a prepaid card or they would be arrested by Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that:

  • We do not make any calls for collection of monies, i.e., fines, fees, bonds, etc.
  • We do not request credit card information over the phone.
  • We do not provide any warrant information to the public over the phone.
  • When in doubt, ask the caller for a contact name and phone number for verification purposes and contact the     Sheriff’s Office immediately at (928) 783-4427.

If you believe you have been a victim, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
