Tucson Police Investigating Murder, Suicide On East Side

The Tucson Police Department is investigating an apparent murder/suicide that occurred on Tucson’s East Side involving 52-year-old Yolanda Eberts and 48-year-old Bryant Smith.

On January 6, 2018, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to 160 N. Pantano Road for a report of a deceased female found inside of an apartment. Family members called police after locating their relative inside of the home. As police were responding, a second call was received from family indicating that the deceased female’s boyfriend was found unresponsive inside of his vehicle in the apartment complex. When officers arrived, they located the male sitting in his vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene and was not transported.

Officers then entered the apartment where they located an adult female with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. The female was also pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that Bryant and Yolanda were in a relationship and living together in the apartment where the shooting took place. Although they are still in the early stages of the investigation, it appears that Bryant shot Yolanda before taking his own life. It is uncertain at this time as to when the shooting actually occurred and detectives are trying to determine what led up to the shooting.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to please call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
