Yuma Agents Rescue Honduran National From Drowning

Agents working along the Salinity Canal near San Luis, Arizona rescued a Honduran national in dramatic fashion on Saturday evening.

Agents assigned to the Yuma Sector Riverine Unit noticed the individual struggling to stay afloat after he illegally entered the United States by attempting to swim across the Salinity Canal. Agents  proceeded to rescue the individual and provided basic medical attention at the scene before transporting him to a local area hospital for further evaluation.

The man was later released from the hospital and processed for immigration violations.

Federal law allows agents to charge individuals by complaint, a method that permits the filing of criminal activity charges without inferring guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless or until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
