Erin Christiansen Set To Leave KGUN9 News

Emmy winner Erin Christiansen

Popular meteorologist, Erin Christiansen, is the latest star to flee KGUN9 News. Friday will be the Chief Meteorologist’s last day at what has been described by insiders as “a sinking ship.”

Christiansen is reportedly fleeing for high ground in Florida.

Earlier this summer, long-time anchor Guy Atchley announced his retirement amid rumors that the station has fallen into a state of chaos under the leadership of Leon Clark.

Christiansen earned an excellent reputation in her over 21 years in Tucson television. Best known for her philanthropy, the former Midwesterner embraced the people of southern Arizona quickly and they returned the feelings. Christiansen’s annual Halloween Party was a hot ticket for the area’s who’s who.

Among the beneficiaries of Christiansen’s philanthropy were the Pima Animal Care Center, and Pima Paws for Life. Christiansen raised tens of thousands of dollars for southern Arizona’s animal-care and children’s charities.

“I’m stunned,” said one former Scripps employee. “The fact that KGUN would not find a way to keep Erin on is shocking. At the same time, we know that everyone is looking for a way out of there.”

Christiansen first won Tucsonans’ hearts while working at KOLD.
