Maricopa County voters urged to check ballot status
Maricopa County voters are being urged to check to see if their legally cast ballot has been processed and their votes counted. According to various reports, numerous voters have visited the Maricopa County Recorder’s website to check their ballot’s status only to find that their vote did not count.
Reports of voters disenfranchised by the Recorder’s Office are filling up social media accounts:
Since taking office, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes has come under sharp criticism by both the left and the right for his inability to manage elections.
Last Tuesday, voters were turned away from a polling site in Gila Precinct and diverted to Chandler City Hall “due to building access issues.” Poll workers arrived at the building on Tuesday morning to find that it had been foreclosed upon and the doors were chained and locked.
During the primary, voters across the County were diverted away from nonfunctional polling places to functional polling places. Many of them were unable to go to those polling places and were essentially denied the opportunity to vote.
